Common questions
How do you know a car has sold?
The API distinguishes inferred sold vehicles, where the listing pattern indicates a sale, from expired listings, where a number plate simply has no active advert anywhere we track. You can filter for either with the sold and expired parameters, so a car moved between websites is not mistaken for a sale.
How far back does the sold data go?
The Past Inventory Search covers a rolling 90 days of sold and delisted listings, refreshed daily by 11:00 UTC. For longer history on a specific car, the History API tracks every advert per number plate back to 2022; for longer market-wide history, our data feeds carry every listing since 2021.
Can I see every advert a sold car had?
Yes. By default results are deduplicated to one attributed listing per car, but the nodedup parameter returns every advert per number plate across every website, useful for tracing how a car was marketed before it sold.
Can I run statistics on sold stock?
Yes, the same aggregations as the live search: price and days-on-market statistics, and counts by make, model, fuel type or any other field, so you can benchmark realised prices against asking prices for any segment.
