Marketcheck, the UK’s most significant source of data on the UK used car market, has today published an analysis of regional variation in the price of used EVs.
In June 2025, the cheapest place to buy a used EV was in the East Midlands, with an average last-listed price of £21,213. Marketcheck’s breakdown showed that the Greater London region is the most expensive, with an average cost of £24,514.
Looking over a two-year period, Marketcheck also discovered that the price is equalising across the country. In June 2023, the most expensive place to purchase a used EV was the North West, with an average last-listed price of £32,620, whilst the cheapest was in Scotland at £25,666, a difference of £6,954. The East Midlands also saw the largest decrease in the average cost of a used EV this year. The June 2025 cost is an 18.69% reduction compared with the £26,088 average cost in January. Interestingly, Greater London is the only region in the UK in which the average cost of a used EV has increased. In January, the average last-listed price was £22,6000. Alastair Campbell, Marketcheck UK, commented:
“Our latest data reveals significant regional shifts in the used EV market, with the East Midlands emerging as the most affordable place to buy a used electric vehicle. At just over £21,000, it’s well below the national average – and a full £3,300 cheaper than in Greater London, where prices have actually risen this year.
What’s particularly striking is the narrowing of the price gap across the UK.
Just two years ago, regional differences were far more pronounced, but we’re now seeing a more level playing field emerge. This points to growing maturity in the used EV market and broader nationwide adoption.”
