Marketcheck, the UK’s most significant source of data on the UK used car market, has today published the results of a two-year analysis of the UK’s used hybrid market, covering the period from May 2023 to May 2025.
Marketcheck found a significant increase in the sale of used hybrids, which increased by 74.98% between May 2023 and May 2025. In May 2023, a total of 17,676 used hybrids were sold, rising to 30,930 by May 2025.

The volume of sales has steadily increased over the period covered by Marketcheck’s analysis, despite some fluctuations in sales. The latter half of 2024 saw the greatest fluctuations, with November and December seeing two straight months of decreased sales. November saw a decrease of 2,869 when compared with the preceding month, followed by a further decrease of 3,664 in December. January 2025 saw a 10,326 increase in sales, rising from 19,079 to 29,405 in the new year.
The average last-listed price has also seen a steady decline, but appears to have plateaued in 2025.
Marketcheck found the average price of a used hybrid fell from £25,949.00 in May 2023 to £24,006.32. Prices have remained steady so far this year. In January 2025, the average last listed price for a used hybrid was £23,958.73, reaching a slight increase of £24,006.32 in May. February saw the lowest price at £23,868.08, and March the highest at £24,395.88.
