Used EV prices fall then climb back up in 2025

Average EV prices drop by over £2,000 before rising in second half of the year

Marketcheck, the UK’s most significant source of data on the used vehicle market, has today published a month-by-month breakdown of average used electric vehicle (EV) prices throughout 2025, revealing a clear trend: a sharp price drop in the first half of the year, followed by a mirrored rise

In January 2025, the average last listed price for a used EV was £24,353. Prices then declined steadily to reach a low of £22,162 in August.

From September to December, however, prices climbed back, with month-on-month increases. By the end of the year, the average price had risen to £23,642.

Alastair Campbell, Marketcheck UK, commented:

“2025 was a year of two halves for used EV pricing. The early months saw a steep and consistent drop in values as supply increased and pricing adjusted to market realities. But from September onward, prices began to climb back up.

The stabilisation around the £23,000 mark suggests a maturing market, where growing consumer demand is meeting a wider and more affordable range of electric vehicles.

Marketcheck will continue to analyse the developing used EV market.”
