Marketcheck, the most significant source of used car data in the UK, has today published a regional analysis of the most popular colour of used car purchased in each region in October.
Nationwide, of the 322,429 used cars sold in October, grey was the most popular with 21.42% of Brits choosing to purchase a used car of this colour. Pink proved to be the most unpopular choice, accounting for just 226 (0.07%) of used cars sold in October.
Whilst the most unpopular choice, Marketcheck’s analysis revealed some surprising results. The North of England (North West, North East and Yorkshire and the Humber) accounted for a third of all pink cars sold in the UK during October. The North West purchased the highest amount of pink used cars, accounting for 19.47% of all sales in October, with Northern Ireland not buying a single pink used car during the month, and just one sold in Wales.

Grey, white and black were the most popular colour across all regions, accounting for 62.73% of all sales. Grey was the most popular choice in the East Midlands, East of England, the South East, Wales and the West Midlands. The most popular choice in the North East, Scotland and Yorkshire and the Humber when purchasing a used car in October was white. In the North West and Greater London the most popular colour was black.
