Marketcheck, the most significant source of data on the UK used car market, has today published analysis outlining a fall in daily sales of used Jaguars following the firm’s controversial rebrand.
In the seven days following the brand redesign launched on the 19/11/2024, 133 used Jaguars were sold on average each day. This is in comparison to 146 sold on average between 1/10/2024 – 17/11/2024 – equalling a 8.9% fall.
According to Marketcheck data, there are currently 9,803 used Jaguars on the UK market. Since 01/10, the most popular Jaguar model sold was the F-Pace, with the least the XJ Series. The E-type was the most expensive average model, at £70,544, with the cheapest average price for the X-type at £2,711.
Alastair Campbell, Marketcheck UK commented:
“Jaguar took a significant risk relaunching its brand. Has it paid off? Time will tell, but the initial figures are not encouraging. There has certainly been no growth, and the immediate reaction is a poor one according to used car buyers.”
“As a PR strategy, it has generated an incredible level of attention and interest in the brand. Has that impacted used sales? Maybe. But the re-launch was as much about the future as the customers of the past and has arguably resulted in a statistically significant drop in used purchases.”
“The used car market is an accurate barometer for consumer confidence, in a specific brand or the wider economy, and Marketcheck will continue to analyse any developments.”falling sales.”
