February 2026 sets new record for used EV sales in the UK

Marketcheck, the UK’s most significant source of data on the used vehicle market, has today revealed that February 2026 was the strongest month ever recorded for used electric vehicle sales in the UK.

According to Marketcheck’s latest data, 22,381 used EVs were sold in February 2026, surpassing the previous record set in August 2025 at 22,200.

The figures underline the rapid expansion of the used EV market, with sales more than doubling in just two years. In February 2024, a total of 10,343 used EVs were sold across the UK, meaning sales have risen by 100% plus over that period.

The data shows a clear growth trend in the used EV market over the past three years. Monthly sales averaged around 7,000 – 8,000 vehicles in late 2023, rose to around 13,000 – 15,000 in 2024, and regularly exceeded 20,000 per month throughout 2025 and early 2026.

What we’re seeing now is the second-hand EV market becoming firmly established. As more electric vehicles enter the used car pool and prices continue to become more competitive, demand from buyers is clearly accelerating.

The effect on pump prices is not reflected in these figures, so next month’s analysis will be very interesting to see if increasing petrol & diesel costs create higher demand as the war in Iran continues to create uncertainty.”
